In this Tutorial I'm gonna show you, How to forward your newly purchased domains to blogger or blogspot blogs. If you're a newbie and its you first domain, you might be confused about how you're gonna manage seeting up your domain completely. But don't worry! I'll explain you each and every step very carefully and you won't have to ask anyone for help after reading this tutorial.
Lets start mapping your domain with your blogger now.
To proceed further, you need the following things:
1. Blog on blogger.
2. A domain purchased from Godaddy.
3. And a little patience.First we will start with blogger and setup the domain name in blogger settings.
Navigate through your blogger settings and goto basic settings and there you will find "Add a custom domain".
Next, enter the domain you bought from Godaddy with prefixing "www" and save the settings. But you will get an error about domain verification and the setup is not completed yet.
There will be a message displayed below the domain name containing CNames for domain verifications. Note them down carefully because you will need them in next steps.
Now goto Godaddy dashboard and click on Launch option for Domain names.
Now you will be taken to the domain name settings page, Click on DNS Zone File tab and select edit option from there.
Look for A(Host) settings and click on Quick Add button, Enter "@" under the HOST field and write down the IP Addresses one by one as shown in the picture below.
Move to CNAME (Alias) settings now, and click on "Quick Add" and Enter the values you noted in the begining from blogger settings. For example www will go under the HOST section and ghs.google.com will go under the POINTS TO section. Repeat the same steps for next value and click on "Save File Zone" button.
Finally we're now done with our Domain settings in Godaddy panel and now again lets go back to blogger settings where we left and again click on save settings to complete domain setup. Last time we got verification error but we have now verified the domain, so there will be no interruption now.
Select the edit button next to your domain name and tick the check box under it. This is to redirect the naked domain (without www) to your main domain name. That is for example if someone is searching for something.com then automatically it will get redirected to www.something.com.
I hope this tutorial was usefull for you and now you can start your business with the new domain name.
